Managing Database User Privileges in Thamara Cloud (cPanel)
What are user privileges, and why are they important?
In Thamara Cloud hosting environments, user privileges define what actions a user can perform on a database — such as adding, editing, or deleting data.
Assigning privileges correctly ensures that each user has the right level of access to perform specific tasks while maintaining your website’s security and integrity.
For example:
- A developer might need full access to manage and update database structures.
- A content manager might only need permission to read or insert data.
How to assign privileges to a database user
Follow these steps to grant database privileges to a specific user in your Thamara Cloud cPanel:
- Log in to your Thamara Cloud cPanel account.
- Under the Databases section, click MySQL® Databases.

- Scroll down to the Add User to Database section.
- From the User dropdown menu, select the user you want to assign.
- From the Database dropdown menu, select the target database.
- Click Add.

- On the next screen, choose the privileges you wish to grant, or select ALL PRIVILEGES if you want to give full access.
- Click Make Changes, then Go Back to save your settings.

Tip:
Only assign the privileges a user really needs. This helps protect your data and prevents accidental changes.
How to remove a user from a database
If you want to revoke a user’s access to a specific database:
- Go to MySQL® Databases in your Thamara Cloud cPanel.
- Scroll to the Current Databases section.
- Locate the database you want to modify.
- In the Privileged Users column, click the trash icon ????️ next to the user’s name.

This immediately removes their access privileges for that database.
