How to Set Up Password-Protected Directories in Plesk

Overview

Password-Protected Directories in Plesk allow you to secure specific folders on your website using a username and password.

This feature is useful when you want to restrict access to admin areas, development sites, or private files.


Access Password-Protected Directories

  1. Log in to your Plesk Control Panel.
  2. From the left sidebar, go to Websites & Domains.
  3. Select your domain and click Password-Protected Directories.


Add a New Protected Directory

Click Add Protected Directory.




  1. Enter the path (folder location) you want to protect.
  2. Click Create to save.


Create a User for Access

  1. After creating the directory, click on its name.

  3. Enter a username and password.
  4. Click Create.


 

Test the Protection

  1. Visit your protected directory in a browser, e.g.:

https://yourdomain.com/private-folder/

  1. You’ll be prompted to enter the username and password you created.
  2. Once entered, you’ll gain access to the protected content.



"Notes"

  • You can add multiple users for the same directory.
  • To remove protection, select the directory and click Remove Protection.
  • This feature is available for all Thamara hosting plans via Plesk.
