How to Restart Services in WHM

Overview

In certain situations, you may need to restart essential server services such as ApacheMySQL, or Exim. This is often required after configuration changes, updates, or when troubleshooting issues related to websites, databases, or email delivery.

WHM provides a simple interface to safely restart these services without needing command-line access.

1. Log in to WHM

  • Go to your WHM login page:

https://yourserverip:2087 or https://yourhostname.com/whm

  • Enter your root username and password.

2. Locate the “Restart Services” Tool

  • From the left-hand sidebar, search for “Restart Services”.

  • You will see a list of available services you can restart (Apache, DNS Server, FTP Server, Mail Server, etc.).

3. Restart a Specific Service

  • Click the service you want to restart, for example:
    • HTTP Server (Apache) – Restarts web services for hosted websites.
    • Mail Server (Exim/Dovecot) – Restarts mail delivery services.
    • SQL Server (MySQL/MariaDB) – Restarts the database engine.

4. Confirm Restart

  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Wait a few seconds for WHM to restart the service and display a success message.

"Tip For Thamara Users"

  • If a service fails to restart, check the logs in WHM → Server Status → Service Status for details.
  • Avoid restarting multiple services at once on a production server.
