How to Import and Export Emails in Roundcube

Overview

This article explains how to export and import email messages in Roundcube webmail for your Thamara.Cloud account. You can download messages to your computer, move them to another mail account, or back them up safely.

Note: This guide applies to Thamara.Cloud accounts using the Roundcube webmail client. For Horde or other email platforms, see the related articles in the Email section.

Accessing Roundcube Webmail

1- Log in to your Thamara.Cloud control panel or webmail portal.

2- Select Roundcube as your preferred webmail application.

3- Once loaded, your inbox and folders will appear on the left-hand side of the screen.

OR Log in to your webmail portal.

Exporting Emails from Roundcube

Roundcube allows you to download single messages, multiple messages, or entire folders for backup or migration.

Export a Single Email Message

1- Open the email you want to export.

2- Click the More menu (three-dot icon) at the top of the message window.

3- Select Export (.eml).

4- The file will download to your computer in .eml format.

Export Multiple Email Messages

1- In your message list, select multiple emails (hold Ctrl or Shift while clicking).

2- Click the More menu and select Export (.eml).

3- Roundcube will generate a .zip archive containing all selected messages.

4- Download and extract the ZIP file to access individual message files.

Export an Entire Folder

1- In the folder list, select the mailbox folder you want to export (for example, Inbox or Sent).

2- Click the gear icon (folder actions) at the bottom of the folder list.

3- Choose Download folder.

4- The folder will be downloaded as a ZIP file containing all the emails from that folder.

Importing Emails into Roundcube

If you have previously exported emails or received .eml or .zip files from another system, you can import them directly into your mailbox.

To Import Email Files

1- In Roundcube, open the folder where you want to import messages (for example, Inbox or Custom Folder).

2- Click the gear icon at the bottom of the folder list and choose Import messages.

3- Select the .eml or .zip file from your computer.

4- Roundcube will upload and add the messages into the selected folder.

Then browse to select the file

Important: Importing large mail archives may take several minutes, depending on file size and internet speed.

File Formats and Compatibility

• Individual messages are saved as .eml files.
• Multiple messages or folders are exported as .zip archives.
• These files are compatible with most mail clients such as Outlook, Apple Mail, and Thunderbird.
