How to Access, Create, Test, and Manage Global email filters in cPanel
Keeping your email clean and organized is essential to protect your inboxes from spam, malicious attachments, and unwanted messages.
cPanel makes this simple with the Global Email Filters feature — a built-in tool that lets you create filtering rules that apply to all email accounts under your hosting account automatically.
Step 1 – Log in to cPanel
Log in to your cPanel Control Panel via your Thamara.cloud account or directly through:
Use the login credentials provided in your hosting welcome email.
Step 2 – Go to the Email Section
Once logged in, scroll down to the Email section on your cPanel dashboard.
Here you’ll find tools for managing mailboxes, forwarders, autoresponders, and filters.
Step 3 – Open Global Email Filters
Click on Global Email Filters.
This area allows you to create and manage rules that apply to all email addresses under your cPanel account.

Step 4 – Create a New Filter
- Click Create a New Filter.
- Enter a descriptive Filter Name (for example: “Block Spam” or “Redirect Invoices”).
- Set your filter Rules – choose the criteria that incoming emails must meet, such as:
- From → contains → spammer@example.com
- Subject → contains → Invoice
- Choose the Action you want to take when an email matches your rule:
- Discard Message
- Redirect to Email
- Deliver to Folder
- Fail with Message
- Stop Processing Rules

Step 5 – Save and Apply the Filter
After setting your rules and actions, click Create or Save to apply the filter.
Your new rule will appear in the Current Filters list.
Step 6 – Test Your Filter
You can test your new filter in two ways:
- Use the Test Filter tool: paste the contents of a test email and click “Test Filter.”
- Send a real test email that matches your rule criteria and check whether the action works as expected (e.g., redirected, deleted, or moved).
Step 7 – Edit or Delete Filters
To modify or remove a filter:
- Go back to the Global Email Filters section.
- Under Current Filters, click Edit to update the rule, or Delete to remove it.
- Confirm your action when prompted.

Common Use Cases
- Block Spam:
From → contains → [spammer@example.com]() → Action: Discard Message
- Move Invoices Automatically:
Subject → contains → Invoice → Action: Deliver to Folder “Invoices”
- Forward Support Requests:
To → equals → [support@yourdomain.com]() → Action: Redirect to Email [team@yourdomain.com]()
Troubleshooting
Problem: Filter does not work
Solution: Make sure it’s a Global filter (not a user-level one) and appears under “Current Filters.”
Problem: Messages not filtered correctly
Solution: Double-check your rule criteria — try using “contains” instead of “equals” for broader matches.
Problem: Legitimate emails being deleted
Solution: Edit the filter and adjust or remove overly strict conditions. You can also add exceptions.
Best Practices After Creating Filters
- Review your filters every few months to ensure they still apply.
- Avoid creating overlapping or conflicting rules.
- Use clear filter names for easy management.
- Always test a new filter with a non-critical email before relying on it.
- Use “Stop Processing Rules” to prevent lower-priority filters from interfering.
Summary
The Global Email Filters feature in cPanel is a simple yet powerful way to manage incoming emails across your entire domain.
By setting up rules through your Thamara.cloud hosting control panel, you can automatically block spam, sort messages, or redirect important emails — all in one place.
If you ever need to edit or remove a filter, you can easily manage it from the same section without affecting your mailboxes.
