Calendar Delegation in cPanel
You can delegate access rights for a user’s calendar to other users via the Calendar Delegation interface. This is useful for team members who need to manage others’ schedules or shared resources like meeting rooms.
Step 1: Access the Calendar Delegation Interface
- Log in to your cPanel account.
- In the Email section, click Calendar Delegation.
- The interface displays all existing calendar delegations for your account.
- Note: This option appears only if your hosting provider has enabled the calendar and contacts features.
Step 2: Review the Calendar Delegates Table
The table in this interface shows:
- Calendar Owner – The user whose calendar is being shared.
- Delegate – The user who has been granted access.
- Permissions – Displays whether the delegate has read-only or read-write access.
- Actions – Options to delete, allow editing, or disallow editing.
If your account only has one email address, the system will notify you that no additional addresses exist for delegation.
Step 3: Delegate a Calendar
To share a calendar with another user:
- Under Select Calendar Owner, choose the user whose calendar you want to share.
- Under Select Delegate, choose the user you wish to grant access to.
- Check Allow Editing if you want the delegate to make changes; leave it unchecked for view-only access.
- Click Create to finalize. The new delegation appears in the table.
Step 4: Add or Remove Editing Rights
- To allow editing, locate the delegate and click Allow Editing.
- To revoke editing rights, click Disallow Editing.
- The delegate will retain read-only access after editing rights are removed.
Step 5: Remove Delegation
To completely remove access:
- Find the delegate in the table.
- Click Delete.
- Confirm when prompted.
Notes and Best Practices
- Make sure your hosting provider has calendar features enabled.
- Use read-only access for users who only need to view schedules.
- Review delegations regularly and remove any that are no longer needed.
